Daily Sudoku
One puzzle a day at each level, the same for everyone. New puzzles arrive at midnight, your local time.
How the daily puzzle works
Each day's puzzles are made from that day's date, so anyone who opens this page on the same date gets the same four puzzles: easy, medium, hard and expert. Finish one and compare your time with a friend, or work up through all four levels.
There's no list of puzzles stored anywhere. Your browser turns the date and the level into a number, and our generator builds the puzzle from that number. The same number always gives the same puzzle, so everyone's browser arrives at the same grid on its own. The date comes from your device, which is why the new puzzles arrive at your local midnight. Our guide on how sudoku puzzles are made explains the generator in full.
Each daily puzzle is graded exactly like the ones on the level pages, so the daily easy is a true easy and the daily expert a true expert. And each has exactly one solution.
Your progress
Each level's daily puzzle saves on this device as you play. If you leave halfway, come back later in the day and carry on where you stopped. The timer only runs while the page is open in front of you, so a coffee break doesn't count against you. When you finish, you'll see your time and how many hints you used.
Progress is stored in this browser only. If you switch from your phone to your laptop, the puzzle will be the same, but you'll start it fresh.
Comparing times fairly
If you're racing a friend, agree the rules first. A few that work:
- Same level, same day. The puzzles change at each person's local midnight, so friends in different time zones should check they're on the same date.
- Hints count. The finish message says how many hints you used. A common rule is to add a minute per hint, or to only compare hint-free solves.
- Decide on Show mistakes. With it on, a wrong digit turns red straight away, which makes things easier. Turning it off makes a clean solve a better test of accuracy.
Make it a habit
A sudoku a day is a small, satisfying routine: ten minutes with a coffee, a break between tasks, a wind-down before bed. Many people settle on one level and stick with it; others work up through the week, starting easy on Monday and trying expert by the weekend.
If one level feels too easy, move up. If you need several hints most days, our guides can help: start with the beginner walkthrough, then naked and hidden singles and locked candidates. If you get stuck partway, see common mistakes and how to get unstuck.
